Frequently Asked

Questions

What is the process after I have submitted my story?

The stories will be collected through the submission form on our website. Following submission, we will contact you to discuss your story in greater detail, and about the methods through which we will share your story.

Don’t worry, nothing will be published without your explicit consent, and we will contact you to tell you when and where your story will be published. If you wish to review or withdraw your submission at any point, please let us know and we will take the necessary action.

Can my story be shared anonymously?

Definitely! The aim isn’t to ‘out’ people and make them vulnerable. It’s to share common stories, and enable others to find hope, courage or solace in each other’s experiences. You may also want to protect the details of other people in your stories, and we would recommend that you change their core details so that they cannot be identified.

Throughout the process, we will take all the care possible so that neither you nor those you mention can be identified and put at risk.

Can I get my story deleted?

Of course! If you submit a story and you realise that you don’t want it to be collected or shared, please email us at hello@fabricofoursociety.co.uk and we will happily delete it from our database.

How do I get in touch with you?

If you want to chat before submitting a story, feel free to drop us a line at hello@fabricofoursociety.co.uk

I know that I have an interesting story, but I don’t know where to start. Can you help?

Happily - we have a list of prompts that might get you to think about your stories. You can find them on the prompts page. If you’re still struggling, get in touch at hello@fabricofoursociety.co.uk and we can help you shape your story.

Can I share someone else’s story?

Yes, but only if you have their consent. If you are submitting on behalf of someone else, we may need to see proof that they have also consented to having their story shared.

How old do I need to be to submit my story?

You need to be at least 16 to submit your story.

Reading or writing these stories is bringing up sadness and trauma. How can you help me?

While reading or writing about certain experiences can be cathartic, we also understand that they can bring up difficult memories and tap into trauma.
